October 2024 has been an exciting month for table tennis fans across the globe, with the ITTF Africa, ETTU European, ITTF Asian, and ITTF-Oceania Senior Championships showcasing some of the best talents from each continent.
ITTF Africa Senior Table Tennis Championships 2024
Held in Addis Ababa Ethiopia , the event took a dramatic turn as Nigeria’s top player, Aruna Quadri, had to pull out of the competition after the Men’s Team event due to an injury. However, Egypt dominated both the men’s and women’s singles events. In the Men’s Singles Final, Omar Assar (EGY) defeated compatriot Youssef Abdel-Aziz (EGY) 4-2 to clinch the title. In the Women’s Singles Final, it was a nail-biting 4-3 victory for Hana Goda (EGY), who narrowly edged past fellow Egyptian Mariam Alhodaby.
ETTU European Championships 2024
In Europe, France’s rising star, Alexis Lebrun, claimed the Men’s Singles title, overpowering Germany’s Benedikt Duda in a decisive 4-0 victory. On the women’s side, Austria’s Sofia Polcanova emerged victorious in the Women’s Singles Final, defeating herself in a curious repetition that could symbolize her dominant performances throughout the championship. She beat her opponent 4-1.
ITTF Asian Table Tennis Championships 2024
Asia saw thrilling matches with world-class talent on display. Japan’s Tomokazu Harimoto won the Men’s Singles Final, overcoming China’s Lin Shidong with a 3-1 scoreline. In the Women’s Singles, North Korea’s Kim Kum Yong triumphed, defeating Japan’s Miwa Harimoto 3-1 to claim the title.
ITTF Pan American Championships 2024
In the Americas, Brazil dominated the men’s competition, with Hugo Calderano winning the Men’s Singles by beating fellow Brazilian Vitor Ishiy 4-0 in the final. Meanwhile, Puerto Rico’s Adriana Diaz took home the Women’s Singles title, defeating Bruna Takahashi (BRA) 4-2.
ITTF-Oceania Senior Championships 2024
In Oceania, Hwan Bae (AUT) captured the Men’s Singles title with a 4-1 win over compatriot Aditya Sareen (AUT). In the Women’s Singles, Minhyung Jee (AUT) edged out Yangzi Liu (AUT) in a dramatic 4-3 victory to secure the championship.
These events highlighted the global nature of table tennis, with fierce competition across every continent, setting the stage for more exciting international clashes in the future.
