Nigerian table tennis player Isau Ogunkunle made headlines at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games by winning a bronze medal in the Men’s Singles Class 4 event this achievement marks Nigeria’s first single medal in Paralympic table tennis since the Sydney 2000 Games.
Ogunkunle’s journey to the podium was remarkable he defeated reigning Paralympic champion Abddullah Ozturk of Turkey in round of 16 and followed up with a victory. over France Maxime Thomas in the quarterfinals .Although he lost to South Korea’s Kim Young-Gun in the semifinal Ogunkunle’s performance secured Nigeria fifth medals at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.
His success not only end a 24 years medal drought for Nigeria in this event but also inspires future generations of Nigeria athletes.
