Nigeria’s rising table tennis star, Matthew Kuti, is set to make his debut at the 2025 African Cup, which will take place from February 25 to 27 in Tunisia.
Kuti will compete in the men’s singles event, facing some of Africa’s top players, including:
- Quadri Aruna (Nigeria)
- Omar Assar (Egypt)
- Jide Omotayo (Nigeria)
- Bouloussa Mehdi (Algeria)
- Elbeiali Mohamed (Egypt)
- Essid Wassim (Tunisia)
Kuti has been Nigeria’s most consistent home-based table tennis player, winning major tournaments in the country. He recently added the Molade Okoya-Thomas Cup men’s singles title to his growing collection. Since making his senior debut at the 2023 African Games in Accra, Ghana, Kuti has become an integral member of Nigeria’s national team.
The team is led by head coach Segun Toriola, who believes Kuti will perform well, as he is in excellent shape.
