Barrister Wahid Enitan Oshodi has been elected as the President of the African Table Tennis Federation (ATTF). His election took place at the 2024 Elective Annual General Meeting held on October 15 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Oshodi, who previously served as Executive Vice President of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) and Deputy President of ATTF, has long been a prominent figure in African and international table tennis. His victory is seen as a major milestone, as he becomes the second Nigerian to hold this prestigious position, following Engr. Segun George.
His years of dedication to the sport had brought him to this critical moment. As a former Commissioner for Youth, Sports, and Social Development in Lagos, also former Nigeria table tennis federation (NTTF) and the Executive Vice President of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF), he had worked tirelessly to elevate African table tennis to the global stage.
The hall buzzed with anticipation as delegates from across the continent cast their votes. Oshodi reflected on his journey—how he had fostered talent in Lagos, organized groundbreaking tournaments, and championed the sport’s development in Africa. He thought of the late nights strategizing, the endless meetings, and the vision he had to further empower African players.
Then, the moment came. The vote was in. His name was called, and the room erupted in applause. Barrister Oshodi had won. He was now the President of the ATTF, the second Nigerian to ever hold the prestigious position.
As he stood to address the assembly, his heart swelled with pride. He knew this was not just a personal victory, but a victory for African table tennis. “Together,” he said, “we will continue to break boundaries and ensure that African talent shines on the world stage.” His words echoed through the hall, a promise of a bright future under his leadership.
