The final day of WTT Contender Lagos 2026 delivered a spectacular finish at the Sir Molade Okoya Thomas Indoor Sports Hall, where champions emerged after a week filled with intensity, drama, and unforgettable table tennis.
Denmark’s Anders Lind claimed the men’s singles title with a series of commanding performances that confirmed his status as the tournament’s top seed. Mixing creativity, sharp counterattacks, and fearless shot-making, Lind controlled the biggest moments of the final to lift the trophy in front of an energetic Lagos crowd.
In the women’s singles event, Japan’s Satsuki Odo dazzled fans with her speed and aggressive attacking play. The young Japanese star handled the pressure brilliantly, dominating crucial rallies to secure the women’s singles crown and complete an outstanding tournament run.
The doubles events added even more excitement to an unforgettable finals day in Lagos.
India celebrated success in the men’s doubles as Manav THAKKAR and Manush SHAH combined brilliantly to capture the title. The Indian pair displayed excellent chemistry throughout the tournament, producing quick attacks and clever teamwork to overcome strong international opposition in the final.
Nigeria also had reason to celebrate in the men’s doubles event. The home partnership of Taiwo MATI and Matthew KUTI impressed local fans with a strong run to the semifinals before falling to eventual champions Manav THAKKAR and Manush SHAH. Despite the defeat, the Nigerian duo secured third place, earning loud applause from supporters who proudly backed them throughout the tournament.
In the women’s doubles competition, Japan’s Reina ASO and Korea’s JOO Cheonhui lifted the trophy after an impressive campaign. Their partnership blended powerful attacking shots with calm defensive control, helping them dominate key moments during the championship match.
